More baseball magazines 1974-1990

While I had the scanner fired up today, I scanned the covers of some obscure but colorful mags I have in one of my binders. Anyone else have these or anything comparable??

Probably have more than I think buried somewhere?
I'm a pack rat.
Jay sent me a copy of Tuff Stuff when it was the size of an SCD - always fun to read back on the hobby.
Ya gotta love this stuff! Thanx for taking the time to scan - always a pleasure.
<< <i>I have some Mike - got rid of a bunch.

Wow, Mike. I thought I was one of the ultimate "pack rats", but I come up short compared to you! I have a brother visiting later this year and I'm trying to get my "stuff" organized so i can share it with him. He still lives in MN and has never really seen my collection.
I didn't buy many Tuff Stuff magazines. I may have one or two...
<< <i>I have that first book (Classic Baseball Cards). It's quite common and is only worth $5 or so. >>
Ah! Thanks for the info. I should do a search on these things and see if I have anything worth more than a few bucks. I'm sure I have what I paid for these mags someplace...
I have alot of Tuff Stuffs - if I liked the cover, I saved it - and it does have many articles and references when Beckett didn't advertise.
I also have some items that reach out to the early formal reference to the hobby - like the original card catalog by the Godfather of cards - J. Burdick: The American Card Catalog; a bit tougher to find - first edition - hard cover with dust jacket.
<< <i>Mike - I didn't save Becketts except in rare situations - I still have my first one when I got more serious about the hobby - it's from 1988.

Awesome! I've GOT to put a search on for that one. That should be some interesting reading!
If you read the info on the first page posted the famous Honus Wagner was a $2,000 card and the Eddie Plank was $850.
Now that was an incredible return on investment!

In another thread here, I posted a page out of a 1975 "Collectors Quarterly" magazine (see below). It looks like the value went up $500 in two years. Astronomical back in the '70s!
I believe I read the card was up to $25,000 by 1985.
If someone had some big foresight they would have bought five or six of the card and now they would be a millionare off less then a $10,000 investment. That would have been pretty sweet!

Here's a thread I posted a while back when the Wagner was worth 25 bucks!

It's amazing what ya find when one surfs the net!

Tho I'm happy to have it in my book collection Mike - the read is a disappointment - not much insight - mostly just a price guide.
Don't remember what I paid - about 80 or 90 bucks - so it aint cheap!

There are four of them available on eBay today, ranging from about $30-$100. They're not in the best shape, though, so I'll hold out until I see one I want. It took me years to find the right deal on my favorite book about the Senators by Morris Bealle:
Looking forward to your post.
