Not sure if Gail lurks here or not, but she was so nice and helpful with my first transaction, I wanted to post about it.
I have browsed their website several times, but never actually purchased anything from them before. Well, I was browsing the inventory Wednesday and found (you guessed it) some AU55-58 PCGS Liberty nickels. I emailed first to inquire to see if they were still available, and received a reply very quickly along with a photo of the coin in question since it wasn't yet on the site. To make a long story short, Gail took my order, was very pleasant and helpful and even offered to hold other coins for me that I was interested in. I was very impressed to be treated like a veteran, trusted customer on my first transaction. Thank you Gail!
Oh, and here are the new additions to my AU Liberty nickel registry set:

<< <i>I have also browsed their website many times, but their images are just horrible and I just can't bring myself to pull the trigger on their coins because of that.... >>
That's the real question -- how do their images compare with how the coins look in hand?
I don't know, this is J J Teaparty's photo of one of my coins. Nothing wrong with it. I don't see anything wrong with the photos above either.
I am from Chicago and I was in their shop during the summer. Very nice place.

<< <i>I used to buy raw, sight unseen coins from JJTeaparty from their creme colored mailings way back when, and was seldom disappointed. And they would always give you an honest opinion over the phone about something you were inquiring about. They were among the very few I could say that of. >>
I still have a few of those. I forgot about that.

<< <i>Nice coin...and you got it from a good group of folks. >>
Thank you sir! Two coins actually. Nice AU examples are a bit tough to find since PCGS started the "Everyman" sets. And yes Gail at least, was beyond friendly. It's refreshing to find folks like that.

A couple of very nice additions to your set.

<< <i>Gail and Liz are great to work with. Nice additions! >>
I will second that opinion. Bought a number of coins from them, some sight unseen. Always as described and always cheerful service.
While the images on some coins may not be exceptional, they have a great return policy (although I have rarely used it). What is sometimes frustrating is that coins will be listed without images and before images can be posted, the coin is sold! That's a real testament to the quality of their coins and the customer base they have earned.

This may not be an exact word for word quote but accurate just the same ... he wrote "If all dealers were like JJ Teaparty, there would be no need for PCGS" ...
nuff said... other than...
Liz, Gail and the rest of the crew ROCK...
I have bought a few Lib nickels and several CBH's from them over the years and have had no problems whatsoever.
Plus, now you'll never have to wonder about what their NEWPs are, the weather in New England,or even the status of her garden

Nice AU V nickels.

Unfortunately for me, I probably blew any chances of doing business with them ever again because of a shipping problem that happened several years ago. I paid for two coins that they shipped to my designated shipping address (which, at the time, was my workplace). Problem is, they didn't ship them registered or with signature confirmation so that I would be the only person who could sign for them. Turns out somebody else signed for the package and I never received it. So I disputed the charges with my credit card company (since I never received what I paid for). The CC company refunded my money, but I felt bad for Teaparty that they ended up losing the coins and the money. I was made whole, but after that I was reluctant to order from them because I figured they wouldn't take the risk of selling to me again. To this day, I still haven't bothered to try to buy anything from them... and it's a shame because they generally carry a nice selection of the stuff I collect and I no longer have things shipped to my workplace (specifically because of this incident) so the chances of somebody else (other than my wife) signing for my stuff has essentially dropped to zero.
<< <i>Over the years I purchased many coins from J.J. Teaparty. I always was blown away with how fantastic their service was. Gail and Liz are MASTERS of customer service no matter how much or little you spend with them. Their coins were always accurately described and VERY accurately photgraphed, and to me that last part is the key. You can trust that Teaparty's photos will look like the coin in hand, and not like some glorified, ultra-contrasted, angled-to-make-the-color-stand-out, Photoshopped fantasy of the coin.

Were they not insured? I thought anything over $200 required signature anyway.

I'm sure they were insured, but instead of requiring ME to sign for them our stupid mail carrier just let one of the guys in our shipping/receiving department sign for them. The guy insisted he didn't remember signing specifically for the package, and when my company investigated the situation to see if they could determine who "stole" the package, the paper trail wasn't enough to make a definite determination. Moreover, it was a case where the small package could've been sitting out on our receiving dock for several hours and anyone could have come by and taken the package. Grrrrr!
Highly recommended!!
