Scanning software help

I have always used the scanning software that comes with the printer/scanner that I have but wondered if anyone can recommend something else that is user friendly and an easy download??
I currently have an hp 309g photosmart printer/scanner.

    Windows has a scanning utility built into it. You should be able to scan the image directly into any image application you have and do your image manipulation there. Just a thought.
    Interested in any Favre stuff you have to offer. image
