these exhibit a quality of tone which is aesthetically much nicer than some which have been displayed lately. they look like coins that were in an album for quite awhile, did you get them in the same group?? whoever took them out got that 1948 before it started to turn dark.

None from the same source. Been putting these together for almost 30 years. The 1948 I am sure is out of a mint set, as I have the matching 48-D which will be in the next batch of pictures. The 1948 I put in the top 10 nicest toned coin I have ever seen in my life. The 49-S is definately plucked from a mint set. If I had to guess, I'd say the 54-D and 61-D is album, and the 63-D is envelope.
Some refer to overgraded slabs as Coffins. I like to think of them as Happy Coins.
PawPaul Wow! You mean that's the best in the world..the best I will or anyone will ever see?Wow! I better take all the pictures I can now.Wow! There is no better.
yes, I believe Ronyahski has searched the world over and has assembled the finest set known- piece for piece for color and for high ends of the grades ,

Well, I will admit I have seen better.... much better....
just joking, these new Ronyahski threads are some of the best high quality and toned Franklins I have ever seen. Just gorgeous!
But just because you haven't seen a better toned Franklin for a certain date/mm, doesn't mean they don't exist.
Just image how many raw high grade Franklins are just setting in old albums and envelopes, and double mint sets in personal collections that the market hasn't never seen?

I totally agree! Every once in awhile you see new coins pop up that take the spot light and they come from (most likely) those never before seen old albums, mint sets, personal collections ect. Thats why guys/gals like us are always looking and upgrading our sets, just because of those never before seen coins. Ahhh dont you just love coin collecting

Best Franklin Website
The rainbow in the 48 is appealing to me. I like (own) toned coins.
For me, the exception to appealing toned coins would be the non-even toning or what I refer to as blotchy tone.
thx for sharing
got to be valued by you very highly
is it a $10,000.00 coin ?
and the 54-D ......... I bet you would't take 5 grand for it ........it has no peer either
again, I wonder if the Franklin feller's know their looking at coins that they are likely to never see better ?

and no doubt coins will surface that are superior to some Ronyahski has ,
but piece for piece it is highly unlikely you or I will ever see an accumulation of high grade Mint state Franklin's that come near
the magnitude of what Mr. Hanor has amassed .
I am giving due credit to a man that has devoted some 30 years to his passion.........
He was the biggest player when the Franklin game was in it's infancy and the number of slabbed rare date 66's
could be counted on one hand and the grading standards of PCGS were significantly tighter .
no one will be able to go back in time and cherry pick the years 1980 - 2010 as he has done .
The elders of the early Franklin market have all but disappeared ; Erhmantrout, Wooten, Leber, etc. have moved on ,
the time's of the lone elite Franklin collector have given way to a highly collected super popular series that
has hundreds of savvy buyers competing to acquire the best coins .
I remember countless times in the olden days stopping buy Heritage's tables at the big shows and asking for toned Franklins -
they had NONE !
Now they auction them by the basket fulls
The Internet has changed the very fabric of collecting ...........no , the old era is gone
the vast majority of the cardboard mint sets have been broken up and the contents have been slabbed,
and we have entered an age where coin doctoring has become an art form .
you need not agree with me: but I believe the coins he is showing you are , and always will be , without peer
