1930s-40s boxing Exhibit cards -- Updated w/book

While shopping in an antique mall (which we're going back to next weekend when there's a sale) I noticed a box of "58 1930's boxing cards". They had one card on top of the box and it appears to be an Exhibit card. (I forget the boxer's name, but it wasn't one I was familiar with.)
They were asking $195. I'm sure it's probably high, but is anyone familiar with these cards and could give me a reasonable price for 58 of them? The one displayed wasn't mint, but it wasn't beat up either.
Thanks for any advice/help!

Looking to BUY n332 1889 SF Hess cards and high grade cards from 19th century especially. "Once you have wrestled everything else in life is easy" Dan Gable
Post it here.
Adam posts regularly on the Net 54 boards.
Some of the stories behind the boxers is quite interesting. I'm sure most of you will have heard of many of these guys. There's common names like Joe Louis, Max Baer and Jake LaMotta...
I think I'll make each batch of photos a separate post in case someone wants to "Quote" a certain shot to comment on...
I have the cards somewhat sorted, including the ones with the "hometown variation" in the first posts above.
I will forward this to Adam

<< <i>Nice

Thank you! I'd enjoy hearing from anyone who can add some stories behind which years these exhibit cards are from and also about the many variations I used to sort them. The variations may be due to the different years they were produced, which is mere speculation on my part. I sorted the cards by those with "Salutations", with hometowns listed, with or without the "Made in U.S.A." on the left or right side of the card, etc.
The condition of the cards varied greatly. There were 36 that had been pulled out of an album and a handful with pin holes in them. Otherwise there were 22 others that were not pulled from an album...
<< <i>there were some wrestlers in the 1930s set that I am looking for. I would pay $10 each if you are able to find them. This is not to be confused with the 1950s cards. >>
wrestlingcardking,
I don't believe any of the bare-handed shots are of wrestlers. These all appear to be boxers. Sorry about that!

You're right! I fixed one mistake when I posted the same pic in the last two updates. Thanks for pointing this out!
Here's the one I missed:
Andy Warshaw has a good page with many photos. He is the only expert I know of, but Im sure there are others
Boxing etc. Exhibits
there is more than 1 page
I missed this post - not sure how?
I don't collect boxing - have a few items - these are very cool.
If I missed it - did you try to get them down a bit on the price?
Some look in great shape and at less than 4 bucks a card? I can't see how ya got hurt?
Thanx for sharing - I see Anthony's gonna hand them off to Adam - he knows just about everything and has written on the topic - he's the best!
Good luck!
Very cool cards and book, thanks for sharing

My pleasure.
I've never been into anything boxing or wrestling before, but an appreciation for the Exhibit cards got me interested in picking up this lot. Learning more about the men on the cards should be very entertaining. The websites recommended above were a great start!
