isnt it always just a guess?
nobody really knows where a coin has been for all its life or how it picked up the toning
some wild colors that look AT are probably nt just toned in odd circumstances

I like that coin, I don't care what "they" say. I think it's naturally album toned.

Bought it from Heritage as a PCGS MS64 in early '08 for my Dansco album. Abandoned that project and tried to have it reslabbed. PCGS didn't like the color this time I guess?? I still like the coin though.

I've seen other PCGS Barbers with same toning scheme as that 92. They usually come back from CAC with an AT stickie on them.

So you broke it out for your album? And then it wouldn't re-grade, or whatever? It's pretty subtle color not slab, IMHO.

I've posted this proof Indian on this board before, but here's the story on this pretty coin's journey through the slabbing world: First, let me say that this proof used to reside in an old Wayte Raymond album for I don't know how long. And though the photos may be "enhanced" a little, this coin truly has some beautiful colors, not quite as bright as the photos depict, but it has no hairlines and nearly flawless gorgeous mirrors and toning.

So I first sent it to PCGS earlier this year, it came back PCGS PF64 RB. However, my opinion is that it should grade PF65 RB, so I waited a couple months, broke it out of the PF64 holder, and submitted it again to PCGS. Well, this time it came back "Artificial Color." So I broke it out again, and this time sent it to NGC. They bodybagged it too. So, again I broke it out and sent it back to PCGS, and this time they said it had "Questionable Color." And that's where it resides. I love it just the same, and I doubt I will resubmit it, at least not for a long while.

the one I posted is selling today and NGC also designated CLEANED on the slab which I did not see


worth cost of submitting? not sure - probably did not increase value over eBay raw (good pics) much
and possibly even lowered value
