If the done it right....they should end up with the 1915/1916 Bust. Now, that would be really nice.

............if only they would 'see the light' and just go back Brenners Wheat Ear Reverse.......but NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO image

That would be great if the Mint went back to some minimal relief, but on a flat coin, I don't see much improvement.

Lincoln will end up with spaghetti hair.
  • I also just read that the mint is going back to the old designs for the new Washington Nat'l Park quarters.

I saw that too. Anything they do on that obverse will be an improvement. The current version looks like s Shell coin.

I fear a "spaghetti beard" is in our futureimage

If you look very carefully at a 1916 MPL you will see that the spaghetti beard existed back then. There is a LOT of detail in Lincoln that was lost over the decades. However, to keep the relief flat, it is doubtful they can restore the cheekbones and forehead area to the appearance they once had.

    (no longer my coin)

Scanning the UHR produced pretty good results. I hope they can keep the sharp fine detail of the original and let him have his shoulder back. The low-relief "gaunt" look doesn't look all that good on him.

I would settle for detail like this, and it's even prior to 1916. But I think we're just gonna see another flat coin with detail that looks drawn.

I can't imagine that bust in lower relief, but I'm sure that's what they'll do. It'll be good to see Lincoln with a big head again, either way.

Yes 1915 is actually a very subtle "one year" bust. There are differences in the beard not seen prior or after.
