Strike through or error?

This appears to me to just be a strike through but I had a dealer pull it from my case and say it was an error. What say you?

    Yeah it is a strike-through, and PCGS is likely to call it an Error if it was submitted as such.

    I dunno if it really brings much of a premium tho

    If I may chime in - yes, it's a 'struck thru' error.

    However, I'd call it a "White Elephant" error -
    meaning, the value of the host coin itself far
    exceeds the small premium (if any) it would
    have as an error.

    I wouldn't spend the money to "Mint Error"
    holder it myself, but it's your coin.

    I knew that was a struck thru error but the term "White Elephant" is new to me.. Thank you Fred, I guess that describes this 1903 Proof Struck thru Error ...

    I just realized when he said it was an error he was refering to the strike through. I guess I just didnt look at a strike through as an error but as a strike through image

    I'm not a Walker guy, so forgive me if these questions are silly:

    1) Is all of the doubling evident in "E PLURIBUS UNUM" common? Or, better yet, am I just seeing things?

    2) What's with the area of (oh, let's call it) weakness above the second L in "DOLLAR" that extends the whole way through the eagle's claw and into its leg?

    3) Do these issues have something to do with the coin being struck through, or are they unrelated?

    Terrible, it looks to be struck through wire... (soty is it wire?), running north south below the eagle's breast and along the back edge of the eagles right wing. Great error!
