<< <i>I hired a NY working girl to go service Mariano and try to tire him out - hopefully it worked. >>
like the philly fan prostitute for tickets?
Go Yankees!!
Seeing how he steered me wrong this year regarding the division title and the Mets, I'm gonna have to say Yankees in 5.
Up your butt Jobu!

Please make an exception for winpitcher !!!
In any event Good luck to both teams.
It should be a great series. i'm thinking it will go the full 7!

<< <i>It looks like the Phillies are going to start Blanton in game 5. I'd love to hear from a Phillies fan why they think they aren't giving Happ a shot at a start? He was arguably their second best pitcher all season. Is it just because he's a rookie and they don't think he can handle the pressure? >>
Where did you hear that?
Why wouldn't Lee be back for Game 5?
So far I have only seen Lee, Pedro, Hamels, then maybe Happ.
or have Happ or Blanton pitch game 4 not 5.
Lee 1
Pedro 2
Hamels 3
Happ or Blanton 4
Lee 5
Games 6 and 7 has not really been discussed yet.
Or
Lee 1
Pedro 2
Hamels 3
Lee (on short rest) 4
Blanton or Happ 5
Pedro or Hamels 6
Lee 7
These are the 2 scenarios that I have read about.
I doubt Lee pitches on short rest. he never has from what I read.
Phillies look awfully good as do the Yanks.
Steve
What I really don't understand is why Hamels isn't pitching Game 2? Now all the Yankee switch hitters get to bat lefty against Pedro, with that short porch in right. Hamels is freakin World Series MVP, you're telling me he can't handle a Yankee Stadium that isn't nearly as intimidating noise-wise as it used to be? Yes, Pedro was lights out vs. the Dodgers, but that is still an NL lineup he was facing.
The Yankees are getting gifts from everyone this postseason - umps blowing calls, players on opposite teams making boneheaded running/fielding plays, and, now, managers making poor decisions. Luckily Girardi is adept at countering the last factor.
<< <i>No sense in thinking that far ahead, but I don't see any way Blanton starts Game 5....

Pedro is starting BECAUSE of his experience pitching in New York. Cole Hamels has been anything but the Hamels of last year. I can not speak for Phillie fans but I think Manuel knows what he is doing .... IF it works of course.

1 bad start? Hamels is pitching on reputation (actually he is the tuff luck guy this year) Even when he pitches well he has taken losses.
Lee may very well pitch on short rest so Manual gets him in there 3x.
Tuff first inning for them Ibanez could have taken the count to 3 and 2 there.

<< <i>Ol' Cliff looks phenomenal tonight! >>
Yeah, I hope we can at least get his pitch count high & maybe get to that soft Philly bullpen. Still a one run game, but Cliff is pitching lights out. We'll see...
You'll be paying a BIG premium.

Cliff Lee is just flat out lights out. The Yanks might as well walk to the plate with pool sticks.

Down 4-0 now, they have to hope Lee hits the wall or something. He's been flat-out ridiculous so far.
<< <i> for Cliff Lee! >>
CC looked good too though. Ordinarily that was a good enough to win effort.
BTW, regarding my earlier post about the Phillie's probable pitchers - I got that information from Yahoo Sports. They had Lee, Pedro, Hamels, Lee, Blanton, Pedro, Lee as the 7 starters if needed.
Had they called the infield fly on that or not? The commentators didn't mention it either way, but they did talk about how nonchalant Lee looked. If the infield fly had been in effect, then Lee really didn't need to worry too much about catching it. Either way, it was a great World Series moment.
<< <i>Loved that catch!

I thought there was only a runner on first on that play, which would not make the infield fly rule apply.
If there were runners on first and second, then I'm wrong. I'm not sure I remember already.
But no infield fly rule with just one runner on.
