Coin collecting can be fun and aggravating at the same time.
I also started collecting coins as a kid in the 60's (actually born in 60) I knew that silver coins would go up in value even at that age, although at that age I didn't have the discipline to keep from spending them even thou I tried.
I was drawn to silver coins and never did get away from them, but I also didn't dive in and learn as much as I could or should have.
I like finding the occasional wheatie or silver coin that makes it's way in change, and don't think that exhileration I get will ever go away.
I think everyone lurks for awhile before they dive in. It feels a bit weird as you can feel like you know people, but of course they don't know you. Don't let that stop you from asking questions.

I also started collecting in the mid 1960's when silver was going out of coins.
However, I was into foreign (non US) silver coins at the time, and still have a pile of old silver coins.

so at your own peril and may be castigated upon. It is rather
painful. We have a wild goose on the Forum who is very strict
about that.

I started in the 60s as a kid also, continued into the mid 70s, then went on hiatus for a decade and a half before coming back...

Hey Bear, when you get castigated upon, is it hard to get out of your fur? I'll send you a goose-poop umbrella....

Don't let anyone kid you... the paperwork is fun.
