Pack wrappers & boxes, what to do with them?

Just wondering what the rest you do with these after you rip them? Are they worth keeping at all, are they collectible? I do have 1 wrapper of each year set aside just because, but I'm not sure what to do with the other or the boxes. I don't want to sell or give them away as a group for obvious reasons, but maybe as a series of years or as singles over time.

I guess I could just save them for use in some kind of decor for a home sports bar or something...

Comments

  • I keep one of each wrapper to use as a set box cover or binder insert and chunk the rest.
  • I've got years and years of (single) wrappers displayed in pages in a 3-ring binder. It's a colorful collection of sports and non-sports!

I primarily rip modern 80's and 90's. I throw all of that away and give 95% of the cards to Goodwill. I have enough crap already. I enjoy the rips but just don't need more garbage around here. Pack wrappers of modern cards just don't strike me as something that will ever be that collectible and even if it does you just can't keep everything.
  • Save the best ones (ones with no rips or tears, and that are nicely centered which are hard to find) and then save one of each variation (the wrapper give-aways on the back). Then I throw away the rest.

  • I have a couple '79 baseball and '74 Football wrappers I have leftover from binder decorating. If you want 1 of ea. lmk

They all have corner rips and the 74's look like they have glue on the flaps as they were resealed.

If we're talking new stuff - like Topps Heritage? I toss them.

Some people save a sealed pack of each year as an exemplar. I always thought - that may be the pack with the great auto I NEVER get! image

There's a seller who has like 100 51T Red Back wrappers and the box for sale - I can't help but think someone is gonna pull a "Gary" and fool some unexpecting person.
