Thanks to PCGS !!!

Sunnywood's "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" Collection of Toned Morgan Dollars, Primary Registry Set (in the category of Morgan Dollars, Circulation Strikes, Basic Set) was honored this year with PCGS's Set Registry Award for "Best Exhibited Set for 2009." I am really pleased to have the set recognized for presentation, as a lot of work went into getting all the coins imaged, and writing up extensive descriptions for each coin.

I want to thank PCGS for providing such a great context for collectors to build sets. With the message boards, the Registry program, the awards, the luncheons, the displays at shows, and all the other great features on the website, PCGS has really succeeded in building a framework for a national community for collectors of all levels. That community is a great asset to all of us, whose value extends far beyond PCGS’s core services of grading, authentication and encapsulation. It transforms the hobby from something that is done in relative isolation, to something that can be shared nationwide.

I think we can all agree that PCGS has done a lot for the hobby. Yes, we have all done a lot for PCGS and Collector's Universe too, but it is most definitely a two-way street and a mutually beneficial relationship.

Thanks PCGS, not just for the award, but for everything else you do for the community !!

Best,
Sunnywood

1878 8TF $1 8TF MS66 PCGS # 7072 : The popular '8TF' (eight tail feathers) variety marks the first adopted reverse for the new silver dollars of 1878. The design was later revised to seven tail feathers in accordance with Morgan's original intent, although the even number eight is actually more accurate. (According to Hawk Mountain's Research Center, most large birds of prey including the Bald Eagle have precisely 12 tail feathers, an even number.) This spectacular coin has some prooflike characteristics, exciting eye appeal, and PQ technical qualities - high end for the assigned grade.
