Have to agree any MS 70 Ike makes me chuckle...
  • Looks like a decent enough coin. A 70? Maybe on a scale of 100. image

Is there such a thing. I have looked at hundreds in the last year and thousands online and have not seen one yet.

    A 70 Ike?

    yea a 70 Ike
  • Id imagine there is one or two somewhere, but I wouldnt expect to go to any shop and cherrypick one.

Its a big coin that marks up real easy and will show the smallest hit. I personally love this series for all the cool varieties, but it is hard to find killer pieces.

Of course there is such a thing as an MS-70 Ike. This picture very clearly shows one.

On the other hand, if you mean an Ike that grades MS-70 based on mainstream grading standards and evaluated by a competent grading service, that's a different matter...

i am not convinced you would knowingly buy that as a novelty... image

That is exactly why I love the series have been studying them for little over a year now. Thought it was going to be a easy series to build a dansco out of. Then I started to learn about all the varieties and Holy Moly an obsession was created image

    MS-70...?

Is that the grade or the solution used to clean it?

Sorry, but the real novelty is actually finding a coin in an SGS holder that is not graded MS or PF 70! image

  • Ah, okay, i get it. They hide the REAL grade in the first two numbers of the certification number.

I think it may be some PCGS PR70s but I'm not sure about MS70s.

image I think it might be an FHC specimen. How did you acquire it ?

The guy who slabbed it MS 70 had a lot of FAITH (F) ... it paid off when he cashed in on the second guy who bought it with a lot of HOPE (H)... it didn't didn't work out so well for him, so he took that hope and listed the coin on eBay, ultimately giving it to CHARITY (C)... Hence, the FHC specimen.

    image another ebay success story.

  • I have seen SGS MS70 in other series sell cheap on eBay. Nevertheless what is in the holder is an BU coin even if nobody else would give it a 70.
