Bengals: Ocho Cinco breaks rule, will miss tonight's game
Thursday, November 20, 2008 10:20 AM
CINCINNATI -- Bengals receiver Chad Ocho Cinco will not play tonight because he violated a team rule, the team announced this morning.
The Bengals offered no further comment.
Chris Henry, Glenn Holt or rookie Andre Caldwell likely will replace Ocho Cinco in the lineup against the Pittsburgh Steelers, who have the top-ranked defense in the NFL. The Bengals already are without starting offensive linemen Levi Jones and Andrew Whitworth, backup lineman Scott Kooistra and backup receiver Antonio Chatman because of injury.
Ocho Cinco has 41 catches for 383 yards. He is on pace to gain fewer than 600 yards, after he averaged 92 catches and 1,314 yards a season over the previous five seasons.
Publicly, at least, he has maintained a positive attitude despite what appears to be a diminished role in the offense.
After last season, Ocho Cinco went on multiple national radio and television programs and lobbied for a trade. He said he felt like he was made a scapegoat for the team's disappointing performance last season, and he threatened to sit out the 2008 season rather than report to Cincinnati.
He skipped the voluntary off-season workouts but ultimately reported for the start of mini-camp, and he seemed to be on his best behavior through the first 11 weeks of the season.

Clearly TJ Houz's is the teams #1 receiver and not to mention Palmer has been out for most of the year which really effected his #'s
<< <i>The Bengals chances probably just improved for tonight's game. He's one of the most overrated players of all time. >>
Right up there with his cuz key. Funny how both of their careers took the same exact path. Come in with all kinds of promise, have some great years, begin to run thier mouths and all of the sudden they become just another medicore player with a big yap
