Ren

I had predicted we'd see a thread such as this one.

It should be a pretty close race.

    I pick DOW.

The post count we have control over, the stock market not so much.

  • I'll go with the Predictions thread.

  • My guess - Holiday Rally will push the Dow over the prediction thread, but just barely.

Woah, baby...we have stumbled upon the key technical indicator for betting the DOW index fund; excellent!!!

So how do we monetize the P-thread so we can all benefit?image

I thought the bet with Lloyd was Google $500 or Gold. He didn't fair well on that one and lost a $100 bet to boot. Of course he didn't pay or even send a note.

No, it was gold at $625 versus the DOW at 12500, or something close to that for the DOW.

CU frowns on betting on open threads. Let's just say that Lloyd was a man of his word and you aren't close to the $ numbers.

I needed to correct that important misunderstanding regarding Lloyd.

"Lenin is certainly right. There is no subtler or more severe means of overturning the existing basis of society(destroy capitalism) than to debauch the currency. The process engages all the hidden forces of economic law on the side of destruction, and it does it in a manner which not one man in a million is able to diagnose."

No, I described it. I was part of it!

    Roadrunner can confirm it.

I just don't remember the DOW number exactly.

You guys gonna make me go back through all my PMs with Lloyd?

    Gold 809
    Plat 838

...getting close to parity. Doesn't mean anything when it does. However, platinums crash does mean the Big 2.5 will not be making 16 million cars next year.

  • Almost there, and the Dow needs to make up 1000 points for me to have a chance..... Oh well, I have never claimed to be Nostradomus. image

The "discussions" were always on Dow vs. gold. Google was never a part of it. Yes, Lloyd was a man of rare integrity. We couldn't settle on a Dow number and finally went with just a figure on gold.

The question now is if we will end the year with a Dow/gold ratio <10. I believe we will.
