Misplaced Date or my imagination? Answered- and Bill Burgert is a heckuva guy!
I asked a question last week about this coin, and tried with my usual blundered self to take pics- they stink, as usual, but I'll try again with magnification later. To me it looks like the lower loop of a "9" in the rock above the 9 in the date. What do you think?

Looks like WB-103 to me. Errant 9 in base of rock. Nice one. About 2-3x times the rarity than "normal".

As several people suggested, I e-mailed Bill Burgert about the coin, and he graciously took the time to check it out and respond. It is a misplaced 9, and the variety is WB-103. It is an R-3, so I guess I did pretty well for a $65 raw purchase (now PCGS XF-40).
I was very impressed with the fact that he took the time to help out a total stranger. The whole experience really reminds me of all of the good things about this hobby. Thanks to all who helped.
Another member also took the time to e-mail me the relevant information. I looked into buying the reference, but the lowest price Amazon had was $400!
Thanks again, all.
