Coin Show Report - Parsippany, NJ
Today I went to the first-Sunday-of-the-month, 80+ dealer show in Parsippany, NJ. As I've mentioned many times in the past, this show features a wide variety of material, heavy floor traffic and a number of numismatic "superstars". It is, most likely, the best monthly show in the country.
Today's show was a bit of an "oddity", as it overlapped with the four-times-a-year, three-day show in White Plains. Usually, a number of dealers are at the White Plains show for Friday and Saturday and then are at Parsippany for Sunday. Today I noticed that a number of the regulars were absent. I suspect they were at White Plains. Jon Lerner (Scarsdale Coins) had posted that he was going to be at White Plains, but one of his colleagues was manning his table with a reduced inventory.
For whatever reason (the economy, the weather, or the White Plains show), I thought floor traffic was a bit quieter than normal today. It was heavy at around 10:00, but seemed quieter by 10:30. From what I've seen, floor traffic peaked about a year ago. It's still heavy, but I don't feel like a sardine anymore.
As has been my habit for the past year or so, I did more talking than looking today. I had nice chats with njcoincrank and SeaEagleCoins (Larry). Larry posted a little while ago about making sure you ask what else a dealer has, if you don't see what you want in his cases. Well, today I took a quick glance at Larry's undisplayed inventory - and I can heartily second that advice! So if you see Larry at CoinFest, make sure you ask what else he has! Today I noticed a couple of Bust quarters and some nice Walkers (not sure of the dates). I think he also had an 1838-O dime and a really pretty 1838 RE half.
njcoincrank showed me a couple of really impressive items and told me a couple of funny "war stories" from the ANA Summer Seminar.
Unfortunately, I only had a minute or two to look over Tom Hyland's cases.
I also saw at least 10 other members of the New Jersey Numismatic Society, which I think is a high point for attendance. By the way, our next meeting is Monday, October 20th at 7:30 in Madison, NJ. (PM me for details.)

Could be that the reason you don't feel like a sardine at the show anymore...is that you lost a few pounds...
Hope you had a great brunch and day with wife...
