  • My guess it would be taking Derrick Thomas over Len Dawson for the Chiefs

And I'm not sure how Matt Stover made that list for the Ravens
    (sorry 2 guesses...lol)

Bobby Hebert, had to google him to remind myself who he was. What about Archie? The other one would be Stover, a kicker for cying out loud. Ray didn't get much respect.image
  • Butkus over Payton on the Bears

Unitas over Manning on the Colts

Mike Webster over Bradshaw on the Steelers

I don't believe I see any punters or field goal kickers on the list.
How many safties and linebackers are on that list too ?

Deion Sanders??? How long did he play with Atlanta?

    Mean Joe Greene over Bradshaw...

I think a reasonable argument can be made for everyone, except for Matt Stover. A kicker as a team's franchise player? Are you kidding? More so when that is the same franchise that has Ray Lewis. Even more crazy.

Funny how most the players on the list played in the past 30 years. A few played in the past 40 years (Johnny Unitas, Jim Brown).

I bet that some senior citizens (65+ in age) would have a different list that places on the list quite a few players that played in the 1960's or earlier. My father in law is almost 90 years old. He might add a few players to the list who played in the 1930's or 1940's.

I bet most All Time Best Lists are composed primarily with players who played during the lives of people 50 years old or younger (the target audience of the sport and the media and the advertisers).

It would be a newsflash to Campbell that he played for the Titans. image

I'd had forgotten that Dick "Night Train" Lane played for the cardinals. But I see where he was ranked as their best player. I always associated him with the Lions. Its interesting to note that he was ranked second behind Sanders by Sporting News as their best player. So he was one for the cards and two for the lions. I would have guessed Ollie Matson for the cards although I wouldn't argue with Lane. Ollie was traded for 9 players in 1958. He also won two olympic medals in 1952. Showing my age eh.

Personally I would have voted for Butkus too. It's a shame if you didn't see him play. Every game he was a hilite-real himself.

    Steelers: Mark Malone

actually I liked Mike Webster but he didn't look like Tom Sellek
