I Wanted To Share A Neat Toned Commem With The Boards As Well

Hi everyone. I had mentioned on another thread a couple weeks ago that I started collecting a classic Commem Set as well. Not for resale (caveat: like all collectors; not for resale anyway at this given time), just for my personal fun. I had assisted Registrycoin with building his great 144 piece PCGS set and, while doing that, always thought about building a set of my own. But, I really didn't start seriously on the idea until the beginning of this year. I suspect it will be a 10+ year project but I look forward to filling all 144 holes!!
So, here is my first "pop 1" Commem in my set. A 1952(p) Washington Carver in PCGS-MS67. Well, actually the coin comes from my 10 year old son's toned MS type set, but I am borrowing it from him for now.
The coin actually scans a bit darker than in person and the luster is a somewhat lost in the scan. This is why I usually tend to not post pictures with the coins I sell. Like that NGC-MS66 Cleveland we all spoke about a couple weeks ago that fetched around $12,000 at auction on a $440 Blue sheet bid and showed off very dark in the Heritage scan (almost black). The coin was much more vibrant in person and has now been graded PCGS-MS68; a unique coin!! Laura wasn't wrong with her prediction that one day it might be a $50,000 coin!! Anyway, back to my coin, I greatly prefer neat toned "modern" coins to white. I built my former #1 MS Roosevelt Dime set around this idea and have pursued MS Wash Quarters generally with the same idea in mind.

In honor of the memory of Cpl. Michael E. Thompson
You may remember, Justin is the mind behind "The 'J' scale" for toned coins. On this scale, this coin ranks a "J-10", a very, very high grade for a nicely toned coin.
Oh, well. Good timing on starting your commem set "right", Mitch, and great addition, a pop. 1. (Pop.1 said smiling, but slowly shaking his head.)
Does our young friend have another J-10 of that date ready for submission?
If not, I may be ready to submit...

ps. This is a Monster coin inside a Godzilla piece of plastic - The Killer Combo - just what we all look for!

But, the scan makes it look like this is a "Washington", as opposed to a "Washington Carver"!! Also, looks like our country is comprised of around 35 states, not 50!! This is the problem with "unaltered" pics. I believe Heritage does not alter its pics either. Many Lincolns and Indians scan much darker than real life. Beautiful deep toning scans somewhat dark like these unaltered pictures.
