1956 MANTLE PSA 8 "WHITE BACK" anyone?

Has anyone ever seen this card in this grade? I wonder truly how rare this card is in high grade. I've never seen one for sale. Does anybody know of one? I'm a huge Mantle collector, but have never owned one of these in nice shape.
Thanks,
Mickey71image

I still don't know why psa doesn't list on the holder what color the back is. The white is so much more rare I think.

Mickey PSA has a great article in the archives regarding that card and set.

from card 101 thru 180 the white is rare (Mantle is 135)

From 1 thru 100 the gray backs are rare.

    I think anyway.

when psa went to the .5 scale they began labeling white and grey back variations.

I can't tell the difference between gray back and white back.
I have posted a 56 Mantle that I currently have.
I would appreciate feedback as to what color it is.
    Thanks in advance.

your scan is small and it's tough to tell. it looks like a white back from what I can see. sometimes the white backs are off color but the grey backs hold their color much better.

the white back example posted for 707's listing looks like a grey back. maybe Levi got his 100's of 56' Mick's mixed up and scanned the wrong reverse

I don't have a white back Mantle, but I have white back 1956's as well as Grey's......I will send a scan when I get home.....I agree that levi's Mantle back IS NOT white....

White Back is what you have. Levi submits so many cards to PSA he can call it a green back if he wants to.image

    Thanks again for the info.
I was just wondering if I should send it back to PSA and have them reslab it to add "white back" to the label.

You're right it looks more gray back then white. Maybe wrong flip or wrong back scan...

if you plan to sell then I would as the Mantle in a WB commands a premium.
