Not really. Chad will get hurt putting his uni on and have to sit it out.

There might not be any scoring in that game! image Seriously, I have no idea why Brett went to the Jets! They have no WR's to make him look good when he just throws up these duck balls!

Cotchery and Coles are solid, above average receivers outside...Coles has been doing it well for years and Cotchery has emerged as one of the more talented young receivers in the league. The problem with the Jets passing game has been with the QB getting them the ball--Pennington is extremely accurate but has below average arm strngth and seemingly takes forever to get the ball downfield. That is a problem they won't have anymore with Favre at the helm. Chris Baker has also emerged as a solid pass-catching TE, and the kid from Purdue looks good, too. I expect big numbers out of Brett this year--the key will be can he limit the picks.

Grote- I hate the Jets just as much as Buffalo and ALMOST as much as the Giants but aside from my personal feelings I really dont see Favre getting it done this year- we are talking what-16 years at the helm of an entirely different philosophy of Football and offense/es and Brett is going to change his approach to the game and be a New York Jet? Sorry man I just think you all are in for a let down.

Obviously this just my own 2 cents and we will see, but I think Favre should have taken his 25 Mill and sat in a booth this upcoming season.

Thanks Grote. You saved me the trouble explaining to the ignorant Jets haters. BTW how does anyone exactly hate the Jets anyway?

No question there's a lot of uncertainty there, perk, I will agree with you on that. I'm also not convinced that Favre really wants to be in NY, to be honest. I know he has a rep for being more honest than most players about his feelings to the media, but I got conflicting signals from him when watching his press conference the other day. It almost seemed like he was trying to convince himself that this is what he wanted.

But from the Jets standpoint, this was a deal that had to be made, and gives them a much higher ceiling this season. It's no secret that Mangini has been trying to get rid of Chad since he became head coach, but the Jets just haven't had enough talent at the QB position to justify doing so. Now, they have a guy who was second in the MVP voting last season, and who looked as sharp as ever in 2007 (till the NFC title game anyway). So, yes, it will take some adjusting on his part to get comfortable with the NY game plan, but a veteran QB like Favre should be able to adapt, and his skill level is superior enough so that he should be a definite upgrade at QB for the Jets, and give them a better chance to win, and that's all the fans can ask for. This is going to be a short term relationship, without a doubt, but it can be a rewarding one, too. I will bet that Belichek is going to take the Jet QB a bit more seriously in his game planning when these two teams play.

Nothing ignorant about anything I have said- The Jets are famous for grabbing ex patriot players along with Parcells - if you have any clue about AFC East Football you would understand.

Grote- Fair enough explanation of how you feel.

You are as ignorant about the Jets as you were with the Giants. They have very good players, and Brett wouldn't have come if he thought they had no chance. Better get ready, your pretty boy is going to have real competition for the first time in the division.
  • Brett Favre loves the game of football and will give the Jets 100% of his somewhat declining abilities.

I admit I thought the Giants were going to bow out in the first round- I already made that clear. Thats fine if you think the Jets will be good- actually its more than fine as I will LMAO again this year when the Patriots roll right through them enroute to the playoffs- some thing the Jets could only dream of doing ( with or without gunslinging Favre )

I love the "Pretty Boy" thing! You guys only wish he was playing for you- deny it all you want but he is far better than any QB that has EVER suited up for the hapless Jets- I say we beat you guys by at least 5 TDs after our two game series this year image

No doubt about it! But lets be real here- the Jets are not even close to as good a team as Favre had with him in Green Bay!

Not only don't I deny it, but I totally agree with you Perk! That's why Brett is the first real competition that Brady will have. The Jets have very good players, but they couldn't do anything with a QB who can't throw more than 10 yards. Brett is going to ignite this team.

Sorry Im getting testy- seriously I get real crabby now talking Football because of our Super Bowl fiasco last year- And no I still have not gotten over it.

Look, if I was the New York Jets ofcourse I would be happy to see Pennington gone and replaced with a guy who can sling the ball- after last year I should know better than to dismiss the fact that anything is possible in the NFL, the Jets have as much a chance as anyone else in the division ( maybe not as much as NE though image )

Here is to the new season my New York friend image

Yep you are correct Brett had a good feel on how good the Jets were.

In fact, he didn't even know how badly his Jets played in 2007. After the obligatory tribute to his teammates ("a very talented mix of veterans and youngsters") he acknowledged: "I didn't know they were 4-12 last year."Linkimage
  • He knows they have good players. He was 0-2 to Pennington's Jets.
  • Hopefully he starts the next game like Favre is for NY. The fins' can't score a freakin touchdown on their home field, but Henne did look good.

Oh well, just means I have bragging rights over my dad for another year! image

All I know is I'm glad someone grabbed him before Herm decided that it would be a good fit to bring him to KC.

Brodie Croyle may not be the future, but Chad Pennington DEFINITELY isn't the future.

I think I could shot put the ball farther than Pennington can throw it.
