Gonzo gets a homer and a double last night, to reach 1,000 extra-base hits, the 30th player to ever do so. I think he has 351 HR's, 581 doubles and 68 triples in his career. Does he merit any HOF consideration?

I don't think he is a HOF, but he was a very good player and had a solid career. I think he had only a few really strong years on the offensive side, but again, I don't think he did anything that stands out to me. I think this year is it for him, so he won't make 3000 hits and he won't make 400 hr's. That being said, he won't be considered a power hitter in todays era, and won't finish with a .300 ave. There are HOF players who got into the HOF with similiar offensive numbers, but they were combined with their defensive stats. Defensively, I don't think he ever won a Gold Glove award, which I'm sure the writers really look at when they vote.
And Jim Rice sucks.
