As a seller - paypal & insurance question

So when I ship an item paid for via paypal, I get a $250 seller protection policy.

If I sold an item for $300, would I insure it for $50 or $300? It's only a couple of bucks more - but hate to waste money.

Checked old threads - didn't see this question raised.

If you sold an item for 300.00 and were paid via paypal you need to buy 300.00 in insurance and get an electronic signature

    I would think.

But if I sold it for $249, I am covered.

Seems like that perk should apply to the first $250 and insurance should supplement it rather that supplant it - no?

PP SP has nothing to do with items being lost/damaged in transit.

ALL items should be insured for the FULL amount of the sale-price.

Mike if you sold it for 249.00 you may still need signature confirmation as I think that Paypal
includes shipping etc, which would bring you over 250.00?

Now if the total was 249.00 with shipping etc then yes you would only need del confirmation.

Lejas and Storm would know for sure.

I once tried to read exactly what the paypal protection coverage was but by paragraph 26 I stopped
    as i was confused.

Not sure exactly what it does cover.

"Not sure exactly what it does cover."

    ////////////////////////////////////////////////////

It is designed to protect honest sellers from scummy buyers.
Bogus chargebacks and fraudulent INR claims are its primary focus.

It has ZERO to do with shipping mishaps; loss/breakage.

Also, it does not cover SNAD claims; whether legitimate or not.
