Wow, Alan!

This is a suprise! Your name has been above mine ever since I registerd my set. It was you that got me to register my set in the first place, and now I am up to five sets. So you are responsible for FIVE new registry sets!!! I hope that you stick around and start another set.

Too bad that you didn't break it up. Us below you could have used the upgrades, and we wouldn't have that great #1 set, in tact, hangin' over us!

I would think that you could realize more if you sold them individually, but who knows; that #1 registry pedigree may be worth quite the premium.
May you set the market level up a notch or so!

I am sorry to see you sell your set. Even though I have yet to buy another Washington quarter proof, when I am on a coin web site, I almost always look at the quarters to see what they have and to ponder buying some. And, the only reason I do so is because of talking with you and admiring your set.

Anyway, I surely hope you had your coins pedigreed by PCGS so that the holder has your name on it. And I also surely hope that you selling your set does not mean that you are "dropping out" of these message boards!

First of all, many thanks to those of you who have entered bids on my set, and have sent words of friendship. Thank you very much. I'm not giving up on collecting but I beleive this might be a good time to sell the Washington proofs and to move on to something else. If the reserve is met, the set will be sold. If the reserve is not met, well....

I have just posted the scans of 9 of the top coins in the set including the date run of proof-70s from 1960 to 1964, as well as the 1936 in pr66, the 1938 in pr67, the 1950 in pr68 (from R&I by the way), and the 1956 in pr69 which has a dcam obv but is missing a few frosting spots on the rev and hence does not have a cam grade. Please take a look at the scans, which by the way were made with a fifty-dollar scanner (free after rebate) and I think still look darn good.

CLICK ON "RELOAD" IF NECESSARY TO SEE THE SCANS.

Thanks again and I'm not leaving the forum or the hobby.

All of my scans were from a cheap scanner ($99), and yours look great as well. It's amazing what a small investment can do, and those coins really look good. I always have trouble with proofs and yours look really sharp. Good luck with the sale.

Actually, I hope I live a long, long time -- so long that I will regret selling it. LOL.

7summits thanks for the compliments. Im going to sell ONLY if the reserve is met, otherwise, I keep it. There's nothing wrong with the set and being #1 doesnt hurt either.

A few weeks ago (maybe it was months ago, time flies...) there was a discussion here about the next set to "take off" and I want to get into that series that I discussed. (No, Im not going to remind you because I dont want the prices to rise.)

Anyway, if my set sells at my reserve price it will give me the cash I will need for my next "exciting adventure in numismatics." (I wax dramatic here)

If it doesnt sell, then I will continue my pursuit for a 1936 in pr67 (almost got one, but I was second on the seller's list) and other high grade gems and will leave the other set to someone else.
