This was a BU Coin - but it looks like a reverse proof doesn't it?
A half ounce of platinum - $800.00 - seems a little weak doesn't it ?

The steady rise of spot price has made this quite profitable for those that have purchaed over the last few years.
I would like to buy the '07 reverse proof plat but I will wait until they start showing up slabbed on teletrade.
There is no need to over pay for your plats.
That's true.
It's a struggle. The amount at risk from buying from the Mint (assuming spot price holds steady) is about $400.
All things being equal, if the market completely rejects these coins you should eventually be able to get a set for $1600, and saved $350 for your patience.
I think most buyers care less about the regular $50 proof, so the $400 premium can be attributed to the value of the reverse proof.
I have a feeling that the reverse proof will not drop to melt, even though the numbers are comparably high.
Will the reverse proof be able to stay about $1200 on the secondary market?
I have no idea, but I think there's some chance it can.
Not enough of a chance for me to buy these sets in bulk-- I don't see these as a good bet as far as investments go. But I felt okay getting 2 sets.
I suppose that's my collector threshhold.
