Numismatic News Mint Stats - 12-27-2007

Per Dave Harper & NN:

"With Christmas interrupting the processing of Mint orders, the numbers might be something less than representative of a week's demand. Sales of 2007-W silver American Eagle uncirculated coins have resumed, so the asterisk has come off the sales number, but the total did not change yet. Asterisks have not been put on the 2007 commemorative totals yet because they are still jiggling, but sales have closed. Platinum "W" uncirculated American Eagles jumped over the 1,000 mark for the ounce, half-ounce and quarter-ounce sizes. The 10th Anniversary Set is still only half sold at 15,840.

The Madison First Spouse gold totals crept ahead. The James Madison First Day Cover sales are at 34,169."

Dollys are going SLOW! Maybe a harbinger for future issues. Hey is there a sales time limit on First Hags? Prolly calender year?

Ha ha - don't we wish.

Any unsold items get turned over to the GSA. Might be back out in 10, maybe 20 years. Might be as long as 92 years.

I wonder if the mint is just selling what is left of the silver and will mint no more. How does the current total of Silver-W compare to 2006 totals?
Gold and silver are valuable but wisdom is priceless.

What is meant by Max Mintage according to the Mint? Look at the Little Rock Coin and Medal set...over the Max Mintage by 334.

  • It also looks like the silver proof set is a pretty low number, considering the mintage for previous years.

Also, the Jamestown dollar is a low number in UNC.
