2007 James Madison dollar struck thru wire?

Is this struck thru wire?
It appears to be peeled back on the reverse, and the piece is raised and hanging there?
I have found other pieces that are struck thru but have not had the piece hanging on.
How common are they? Is it worth slabbing?

  • Yes, struck through wire is a rather common form of strike thru error. PCGS will designate them as a struck thru Mint error.

    It's not struck thru a wire, but a sliver of
    manganese.

    I've had several with the sliver of metal - it's not a wire.

    PCGS will call them "Struck Thru", but PLEASE do NOT
    include the small piece of metal with the submission;
    it will get lost, or vaporized in the sealing operation.

    IMO, it's not worth slabbing, but that's your choice........

    Thank you Fred,
    It came in the new uncirculated dollar coin set with the
    ASE and Sac dollar. I guess I will just keep it where it is.
