About the Ron Paul coins

Are they still legal to possess? I know the Feds busted up the manufacturing ring, but are any still floating around eBay and such?

They are still all over eBay, yes. Whereas they were selling for over $300 immediately after the raid, they can easily be had for under a hundred bucks now.
  • Crap, I had a guy from a local coin store offering up 100 of them to me for cheap before the raid. Well thanks for the info

There will be a lot of up and down fluctuation between now and when he announces as a third party candidate subsequent to losing badly in the primaries.

I dunno, didn't he say he wasn't going to run as an Indy? Maybe he will though. I'm guessing the value would go down if he loses in the primaries....

They aren't illegal to possess. That would be absurd. They seized the assets of the organization that produced them in anticipation of legal action against the principles.

But, since only 3,500 of the Ron Paul copper dollars made it out before the raid, which netted several tens of thousands of examples, it doesn't seem likely that the person you had contact with actually possessed 100 of them. Perhaps he/she was anticipating delivery.

At this point, I think I'd be a bit skittish about owning them. The Feds also seized customer records, and who knows what they plan to do with those.

Since they are simply medals of no monetary value, they are “worth” the scrap metal plus whatever premium buyer and seller agree for the aesthetics of the design.

    Look here

Hmm, nope, now that I've looked at eBay, I found an example-the contact showed me a roll just like this (only the paper was much darker blue). Claimed he had 3 more rolls, unseen. But anyway, I guess that chance is now gone.

This is the sort of thing that gets me to thinking though. I wonder if the manufacturers intentionally provoked the feds and hoarded away a stash of their coins to immediately sell on eBay after the raid. Not saying it's so, but spend enough time on the internet and I guess the conspiracy theories will start to rub off on you if not careful.

I put a banner to Dr Pauls website on our homepages left column. I'll eventually do more than that as well.

Well I've been careful about expressing my political views around these parts, but I won't say I disagree with you. image Now that the cat is out of the bag, I'll say I've always wondered who would win in a CU forum vote.

Nope, 1 ounce .999 fine gold. They were selling for up to $5000 after the raid.

Liberty Dollar was an obscure nothing thing--then came the Ron Paul coins.
Then came the raid and confiscation.

“There are 535 people on Capitol Hill whose job it is to write the laws that govern all of us, and he is one of them. There are 535 people on Capitol Hill whose job it is to preserve the Constitution, and he is one of them. There are 535 people on Capitol Hill whose job it is to preserve our liberties, and he is one of them. But in his heart and in his head, in his character and in his intellect, and in what he has done and in what he will become — the Thomas Jefferson of our day — Ron Paul is one of us!”

I know that socialists, neocons and other dirtbags really hate some of these guys and have even protested a few of them. One was taking shots at Lew Rockwell on Bill Moyers show and talking about the failure of "capiltalism" ( was specifically talking about how foreign aid handouts have failed. Typical ignorant lowlife who can't differentiate socialism from freedom )
  • The only thing that makes me sicker than Liberty Dollars and Ron Paul, would be Ron Paul on a Liberty Dollar.

Ron Paul is destined to have "Former Presidential Candidate" in his resume, and Von NutHouse is destined for the Federal Penitentiary at Terre Haute IN.
