HSN & Coin Vault

What's wrong with those bozo's on those two shows?! Which host on which show is the MOST annoying? I'm going with the fat dude on HSN trying to sell SBA's for $300 and SAE 20th Ann's by ICG for $1500! Who buys that crap? How do they sell it?

I have to know!

"Yes, you get the box, you get the coins, and you get a flex payment!" YES!

Comments

  • Hey, are any of the people in this forum actually one of the hosts on that show? I wager so!!!!!!
  • Are you trying to win friends or make enemies?!?!?!?!?!

  • Bruce,

If you indeed do LOVE SILVER, then you are clearly not emotionally equipped to understand this thread. Now kiss your coins and go to bed- its late.
  • The show "The Coin Vault" is on the SAH (Shop at Home) Network via Dish Satellite

HSN (Home Shopping Network) has a different coin show though very similar with the same inflated coin prices

Another coin show that runs on Dish Network and Direct TV is "Coin Country" that is usually shown on C&T

  • Gary,

Are you an analyst or something? I didn't ask for the TIVO guide- I want some answers here! Heck, I want my own show- I'm going to sell my pocket change and talk it up. Here I have a crisp $1 bill- not just any dollar bill- but crisp notice the sound it makes when I fold it!

Try spending a minimum of a million dollars for a TV studio, pay engineers, electricians, camera operators, directors, talent, then $10,000 an hour or so
for satellite and cable system clearance, plus a staff of "operators standing by", 800-number costs, warehouse and shipping department...you will find selling coins at full retail markup (100 to 200%) is required to stay in business.

I'll see your bunny with a pancake on his head and raise you a Siamese cat with a miniature pumpkin on his head.

You wouldn't believe how long it took to get him to sit still for this.

  • I saw one of the hosts of the one of these shows say that the first year Presidential dollars were twice as rare as the 1999 state quarters...... and acted as if the prices were going to go up tenfold
  • hey im new to the boards and cant understand why we are even here posting on this. the only people that buy this stuff are noninformed john q. public. the best advice ive ever recieved about coins is buy the book first. lets ask ourselves a question, If i had a coin and 1 guy was going to pay $40 and another guy was going to pay $300 for the same coin, who would you be selling to? if people are going to pay then oh well. we live in a capitilist society and its dog eat dog. sarcasim is great but not really needed in the hobby. coins should bring so much to a person, if they are init for the right reasons. i too would like a coin show and sell 2007 pennies for $50-100 a pop. just realize you have a leg up here, you havent wasted your money on them?

just remember that coin collecting is supposed to be fun and fullfilling. if all that negative energy was put to coins, man that be a nice set of something...

  • i watch sometimes to get a great big laugh and just to hear some of the lies that are out there...
  • On shop at home at least they tell one truth-you should never purchase from them with the intent of reselling for a profit-that's not what they are about. I think that says it all and they repeat this frequently.

Sure, I think most everybody understands that these yahoos have to charge that much to stay in business. The VERY BIG problem
is the methods they use to entice UNKNOWLEDGEABLE people to purchase the dime a dozen crap they
sell. As far as I'm concerned, they can keep their "rare" junk.

Give the devil his due! Outside of the US Mint, HSN is the most succesful coin dealer in the world!

  • Shop at Home doesn't always tell the truth. If numbers are making their products look better, they can't quote line and verse from coin world, NN, and the imfamous leading catalog, but last month when trying to push 2007-W SAE's they repeatedly stated "I don't know for sure if the 2007-W will have a lower mintage that the 2006-W, but right now I think the mintage is around 320,000". I can't stand a liar.
