Ok, here's a DMPL Morgan in a rattler holder, I'll reveal grade later. Please let me know what you'd assign it. Thanks!

Well it's well struck, but most '81 S Morgans are. It's appears to me to be a one sided DMPL, and the obverse is the DMPL side but has a fair amount of chatter, probably a 65 in many dates, but for an '81 I'll say it's a 64.

    63 IMHO

Nice coin, but common date and many like it so I'll go lower on this one...

    Let us know soon...

DMPL's show every little flaw that could possible be seen and this one is doing just that. I'd say a 63 but
in hand it might be a 64 but never a 65.

Some coins are just plain "Interesting"
  • I am in the 63 group. A few too many hits for 64 in my opinion.
  • agree with the 63 grade

39Special: The holdered grade s likely 63-DMPL because PCGS is very strict on grading 1881-S's because so many are so well preserved.

However, today's DMPL designation is much stricter now, than it was in the old rattler holder days, so many old DMPL's will only make the PL rade today if resubmitted. So today's actual grade may actually be 63-PL.
