I was in Lowes today and asked about them. They used to sell them but not now.
Where is the best place to purchase one?

How close is the colors in the photo to the coin in-hand?

    Best Regards,

    John
Need the following OBW rolls to complete my 46-64 Roosevelt roll set:
    1947-P & D; 1948-D; 1949-P & S; 1950-D & S; and 1952-S.
Any help locating any of these OBW rolls would be gratefully appreciated!
  • looks like you captured that very well. looks exactly the same in hand?

i have been trying to improve my pix without spending any money and could only get so far.

i recently read a thread here about OTT lights and peoples results with them seemed better overall than other lighting.

i have been using a single incandescent and could not capture any luster.

i have 2 on the way i got off ebay. i`ll post some pics when i get them
    my ebay items BST transactions/swaps/giveaways with: Tiny, raycyca,mrpaseo, Dollar2007,Whatafind, Boom, packers88, DBSTrader2, 19Lyds, Mar327, pontiacinf, ElmerFusterpuck.
  • You can get them at eBay. If there is a local Michael's at your area, they will most likely have one.
As far as the color/tone of the coin, it's dead on. Of course, with the right camera white balance.

Here are the first efforts I have after buying two lights. For the copper it turned out OK. For the silver there was way too much blue in the photos. Other lights seem to work better with the silver. The pictures were taken with the lights in the same position.

You can say that again. A Unique type of toning pattern too!

thanks pinealbany I think you may have solved my problem.

Picked up a Ott light at a neighborhood yard sale for 2 bucks, turn it on and as I look through my viewfinder at my coin I notice a cyclical(sp?)
change of what I see through my camera. The image in my viewfinder is changing ever so slightly, not really from lighter to dark but almost
as if the white balance is changing.

Don't know if the above paragraph makes any sense but the next time I get ready to take some pics I'll let the light warm up for 10+ minutes.

    BTW, nice pic !!
