10th Anniversary Platinum Sets Sold Out!

Well, not quite yet. But when it does, how many of you are going to cancel your order?image

Comments

  • Why would you want to cancel your order on a sell out ?
  • Its not going to sell out, the mint is just not going to ever ship some of the orders.

I didn't place an order, but if I had, why would I want to sell it. A sellout would merit a rise in price on the secondary market.
  • This is really getting dopey, guys. Not all the orders placed after 12 noon EST today were necessarily for the 10th Anniv. Set. Many folks are simply buying more ordinary stuff for the holidays. Haven't you noticed, the Mint has been pushing the Presidential Coin Sets on TV?

Some folks are speculating that the mint’s advertised 30,000 units cannot possibly be achieved, and were ordering assuming that the actual production is considerably less. Some 22,000+ orders were placed today. Assuming that most of these are for the platinum set, will these people get skittish and bail out of their orders if it appears that the mint will actually ship 30,000 sets?

I was thinking, there are 10's of thousands house forclosures on the market now. Our brothers/sisters are at war. There is a chance at our first Black president or first lady president, I want to thank Jesus Christ for the blessings he has given me and all of you.

Lastly I can afford to buy 2 sets today, but I don't know why. It must be the rush of being a new coin collector. Yaha (Farewell and Goodnight)

Like your thread title that would be false advertising.

A friend told me that he had 14 orders canceled by the Mint before they were able to get a 2nd set. So how does that figure in the counts????
  • Stop it!!
  • OK folks! Admit it ... how many of you have or plan to return your set to the mint?image

Pretty hard to return. They are already at PCGS.

No wish to return mine. They will stay in my collection. I could care less if they sell out or not. I just want a set.

Not meant to be funny … I am curious how many flippers are going to bail out of this one. I predict that this set will set a new Mint record – for number of returns for refunds.

Its amazing how many people read the title and jump in with a response, without reading the first post.image
  • How long 'til the first whiney post about the mint taking too long to issue credits?

Not sure why any board member would cancel or return the product to the Mint? I, for one, am paying $75/set premium over Mint issue price today for sealed sets, not to mention 1,949 "miles" credit to the original buyer on the credit card. I am not the only one buying these. Also, beats waiting for a credit 4-6 weeks later from the US Mint - no?

Perhaps they assume the thread content is related to the thread title. Wouldn't that be special?

  • i got a sealed box sitting on my roll top desk, collecting dust. I wont return it for anything. I would sell it, I have never sent anything in for grading. It maybe fun and worth it to send it to PCGS. $75 over issue is nice but I would rather chance a 69-70 and maybe get alittle more of a return. What do you guys thing I should do with my first mint buy, first plat., and first possible sub?

Thanks for the assistance in this matter.image
  • Sell it to wondercoin ASAP, before the flood of new wannabe flippers get their submissions back and jam pack EBAY with unanswered buy it nows.........or open it up and keep it on your desk. It will remind you to shop ebay for all the proof platinum years you havent got yet (with the real upside potential).

If the eartly pop reports are any indication, a 70 won't be all that hard to come by at least in the Reverse Proof. Out of 6 coins graded by PCGS only 1 69 which was a Proof. Of course 3 sets is still not enough to develop a trend but IMO it would be well worth to spend the $100 and have the set graded. You never know, and by having the set graded by PCGS with the First StrikeSM you are assured of receiving top dollar for your set if you receive at least one of the two coins in a 70.
