Where are the 70s revisited.

I just noticed MoneyLA says he sent in a PR 70 Washington that has spots. The last time we talked about PR 70s I had just learned one of my Jeffs clearly wasn't a 70. Since then I made a trade for another 70. The person sent the Jeff back to me as he noticed a tiny gouge on the reverse. I hadn't noticed it before. So I sent that in and expect it to be downgraded. Money says they have a $25 option for this but I've been sending in $30 for regrade service. Oh well.

You have to specify "guarantee regrade". This is normally just for dealers but they will let a collector do it with approval. Regular regrade will only consider coins for upgrade. They will come back no less than original grade even if they deserve lower. I found this out only after spending a few hundred dollars.

Honestly I didn't check every credit card entry so don't know if or what they charged me for that.
I did note the PR 70 DCAM pop of the '85 proof Jeff go from 5 to 4 so that must have been mine.
Basically, I was told it was $25, to write in "guarantee service" on the order form, and to include payment for return shipping.
I will be very surprised if this coin comes back as a 70.
by the way, customer service was hesitant to discuss the "guarantee service" with me -- (they wanted me to return the coin to the seller) -- until I mentioned I had the #1 Washington proof registry set, and then the tone of the conversation changed.

The good thing is if the coin is sent in and wont regrade a 70 the services dealt with have been honest and fair, refund the price difference of price paid. It helps to retain original receipt for proof of amount paid especially for these expensive MS & DCAM 70 coins.

You made a 70.now a 69. What do you sumbit, your would-be buyers bid? or is that when they use the chart?
So, they would cut you a check for the difference in value between 70 and 69, and return the coin? Or would they just cut a check for the 70?
Thanks

If you want more than you paid, you can negotiate with them. As long as you are looking for a market price, there shouldn't be a problem. They certainly know the market. As long as the coin is gradeable, you get your coin back in the lower holder and a check for the difference.
