Grading Common cards?

Hey guys,
I have a small collection of Yao Ming graded RC cards such as the Topps Chrome, Finest, SPx, Inspiration, etc...I was wondering if it would be considered a WASTE of money if I sent Yao's common cards off for grading? I mean 97% of people who send in cards to grade are either rookie or high-end cards, but what about commons?
Input greatly appreciated!
