Has anyone seen a holder like this before? Do they have much value?

    Probably "made to order".

TROZAU is correct. My father custom ordered them then filed each opening to custom fit the coin.

So how does one custom order these holders? I mean, each denarii, etc. has a unique set of dimensions which are invariably not even consistent from point to point on the coin.

I'd be interested to see one in the holder.

Nice holder ajaan. If I had it I would have to fill it.

coinmickey my father was an engineer by profession. he would do his own design layout measuring the smallest radius of

the coin for hole size then use a rat tail file to finish off each hole. Remember this was during the sixties. He would also use

specific gravity tests to determine wheather the coin was real or not.

hopfully Don will show you a set with the coins intact. They look quite cool.
