"The answer was in the Patriots eyes. Gone were the swagger and c0ck sure smirks, replaced by downcast eyes and heads in hands. For his poise and leadership Eli Manning was named the game's MVP. The 2007 Giants were never perfect nor meant to be. They were fighters, scrappers....now they could be called something else, World Champions."

Bud Selig not being there is a disgrace...Bud Selig = Bowie Kuhn.
<< <i> Agreed. I've never been so happy to see Barry hit a home run. Maybe Pedro Gomez can go home now. >>
:
OK, who got the ball?
Time for that little sideshow to take on a life of its own!
Good for you!
Oh, and very classy of Hank Aaron. I am sure he feels that history will make him bigger then he was before Bonds

He's a buffoon, every bit the fool that Kuhn was.

Sure he is. But even a bafoon knows that Barry Bonds is the lead dog of a BIG group of guys who have ruined the nostalgia factor of the game. Forever more there will be PRE roids records and POST roid records.

I know pre and post war eras, that's easy to define. Help me understand when the PRE roids and POST roids eras begin/end.
There will not (and should not) be any ridiculous pre and post-steroid eras.
Congratulations to Barry and the avalanche of crap he has had to endure as the only one of this era to endure any prolonged scrutiny when it came to steroid speculation.

Billions of dollars wasted ....
And no, this has nothing to do with race...Barry was/is a cheater plain and simple...as were Sosa and Mcguire...and no one
likes to see a cheater prosper as Barry has....the great shame is that before he succumbed to cheating, Barry was already
a great player and a surefire hall of famer.....he didn't need to cheat......but he chose the low road!
And of course, their will be people in the days to come to play the ole tired race card as if that had anything to do with it....
The one thing we can look forward to at least is seeing this record broke by Arod or someone else down the line.....
On second thought, pretty sure that he has.
Ban him from the sport forever. Remove any mention from record books.

Well technically each new HR is the record. The "riot" for each ball will occur towards the end of the season when each HR ball hit could be the last and of course that would be the record, and of course quite a valuable ball.
<< <i>Regardless of this accomplishment being achieved under his own power or enhanced power - it is what it is - a great accomplishment. How long will it take for Selig to recognize him and will he ever congratulate him with genuine emotion? >>
Genuine emotion from him would be for Selig to outright call Bonds a steroid cheater since that is what he feels inside.
That isn't going to happen, I think it was best that he was not present, if he stood up and clapped and cheered everyone would
know it was fake and not coming from his heart.
The inevitable is now over and Selig can rest easy knowing that the world did not come to an end.

<< <i>Whoop de Doo for my Subaru. Viva Hank. >>
Hank showed what real class is.
<< <i>I don't feel any joy for this. I haven't even seen the home run and really don't care if I ever see it... >>
It was replayed endlessly on ESPN this morning, it looked just like any other home run to me but with much more intensity on
the part of the fans to get the ball. The ball was claimed by a NY Mets fan (wearing a Mets shirt) who got a police escort out of the
stadium for his own protection and to keep the ball in his possession since I'm sure many people would want to take it away from
him.
