Judging by the number of views and the two dealers bidding against me, not to mention just paying my first-of-the-month bills, I'm pretty sure I don't have a shot at these anyway. http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZgogo_gopher
So maybe I have heard of them and maybe they do exist. I'll neither confirm nor deny.
Those are pretty AND interesting. Can you confirm or deny: the outer ring is silver, and the central disk is colored niobium? But how is it colored? You weren't too far off for the 2005-TV winning bid. I guess there's a few of the MS68's out there.
<< <i>Yeah, the outer ring is 90% silver. It's my understanding those colors are natural, but how exactly they get the different shades I'm not sure. >>
The niobium is anodized to get color. Here's a eBay link: NIOBI-LINK
Niobium is a shiny gray, ductile metal that takes on a bluish tinge when exposed to air at room temperature for extended periods.
And I've seen blue Niobium jewelry that I'm sure wasn't coated with anything. Though have to admit never green or purple.
EDIT: Yeah, the natural oxidation looks more like "blue chrome", so guess you're right.
