PCGS Reg numbers no good?!?!?!?

I just got some coins back from PCGS today, and i tried to enter them into my reg set. I could not enter the numbers because it said they were invalid! Does anyone know how long it takes for the coin numbers to get into PCGS's data base?

thanks

  • It usually takes 3-10 days after they are good in validation. If they're not good after a week, email Gayle with numbers and it will get fixed.

  • I bought a Kennedy for my proof registry set about 10 days ago from a California Dealer. When I tried to enter it, it came up with " certification number is not a valid PF Dcam number". I had to email a scan of the coin to Gayle and she fixed it up in one day. great service. Thanks Gayle. imageimage

  • It's not uncommon to have a number that you can't enter in the registry. Scan the slab and email PCGS a copy - they're quick to fix it.

I tried to enter a Plat Eagle one time and it wouldn't take. It had an insert registered to a Gold Eagle! Gail said to return for reholdering but gee, $20 postage? I just left it alone and used a different one.
Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.
  • There seem to be two separate databases: one is accessed with the "Cert Verification" link on the PCGS home page; and the other is used when entering coins into registry sets. Many times, I have not been able to enter a coin into a set, but the "Cert Verification" database has the correct information. An email to PCGS (no scan, no other information except the cert #) has gotten it fixed within a couple days.
