Thinking of starting a Player Set

I have always been a set collector, mostly Baseball from T206 to Modern Heritage sets. Lately I have been getting the urge to start something new and different. I thought of a player set or Master set.

My question is, the player I am thinking of building the set of is not currently listed on the registry. How do I get a set started on the registry? Do I have to already have a bunch of his cards graded? I have many of hs cards, just not graded and very few ever appear on ebay. I would also be looking for a list of cards available, I guess becket might have that. I'm just not up on the modern card stuff.

The player I would like to start is Omar Vizquel, not the most popular player however I believe one of the best shortstops of all time. Too bad he only hits 250 with 8 HR's each year.

My suggestion is to start off with finding out his mainstream cards IE: Topps, Donruss ect. ect.. maybe by searching the set compositions on the registry from the years that he played, this will be alot of work due to the hundreds of cards that picture him, I believe there is a set request option in the registry home where you would submit a list of all his cards. Good luck
  • You have to fill out the request form and send them 5 cert numbers to get the ball rolling. Then be prepared to wait 6+ months for it to go live. You may have to submit a checklist or they might have it. If you need it let me know and I can send it to you.

    brianwintersfan,

Thanks for the information. If you can help me out with that list please. I'm not sure where to find a player list like that.

  • An easy way to generate an Omar list would be to get the Beckett on-line price guide and then search by Omar Vizquel and year.
