Michigan Wax Boxes?

I was looking at 1983 topps baseball and came across several listings for topps Michigan wax cases and boxes, what are these and how are they differant from regular topps products?

These were a test issue of sorts, instead of a regular wax pack made from paper that was sealed shut in the back, they were made from a different material, mylar I believe, and sealed on the ends, much like todays wax packs.

Are the cards the same?

the cards are identical. the main difference is one cant resale the michigan wraps. as can be done with wax. so thats good. they carry about a $10-$15 premium per box.

They're nothing in comparison to the Idaho Wax Boxes, however.

So, how's the card quality within?

It seems that the first bonus to the Michigan wax box would be you're not loosing 36 cards to wax stains.

How does the card quality stack up against rack?

Here's a scan of a 1983 Michigan Test Pack -- it's not really wax at all...
