Quick question

As I posted a few weeks ago I am going thru some cards and I ran into some older ones, nothing big (and not that great of shape I don't think) but one of these cards I think is a mini type card. My question is were these mini cards produced for a reason or just another version for people to buy. Adding a pic of a few of the older cards (when I say older I doubt they are that old but most evrything else has been 90's) that I have found so far. The bottom card is the smaller one that my question was about.

Interesting to know what the motivation for these test cards was. Just a new product line, to resemble an older product, etc?

Smaller cards = more cards per sheet = lower production price per card + same sales price to kids = larger profits for Topps.
Economics, baby!
