Not necessarily. It's Teletrade, remember? It may be that only one person, or in fact no one thinks it's worth that much...

Wow, that's insane. The power of the registry game is taking over (or has taken over?) the coin market in a disturbing and powerful way IMHO.
Want to buy an auction catalog for the William Hesslein Sale (December 2, 1926). Thanks to all those who have helped us obtain the others!!!

anytime you can trade a 1999 quarter for a 1873 cc dime even up that a heck of a deal.

Which will be worth more in 20 years?
I seldom check PM's but do check emails often jason@seated.org

Buying great coins - monster eye appeal only.
  • That's not where I would put my 6k. I have some moderns but don't feel that to be quite the investment a classic offers. That has much greater downward potential than a high grade early coin, IMO.
Witty sig line currently under construction. Thank you for your patience.

Oops. I still need to learn how Teletrade works. I haven't purchased anything there yet.

For the people that don't think this is a good deal, do you think this is similar to getting a TPG graded classic coin right at/after a big price jump in price for the grade?

Is this more of a modern vs classic issue or a TPG grade price point issue for moderns and classics?

Lol ... you could get a sweet flowing hair dollar, an 81-CC MS66DMPL, or a MS65 Fugio for that much.

When was the last time you heard people suggest that you
could have bought a PR-70 Ike for what someone spent on
    a fugio cent? image

I believe this is the sole PCGS PR-70 Ike. Of course there's
    nothing close in mint state.

It's a bargain at twice the price. It's a Delaware after all. image

I can see the dumb rich guys now. THAT'S an error coin, these are supposed to be STATE QUARTERS, and here they have a coin from the city of DELAWARE. Isn't that in Ohio?

People buying classic coins have lost a lot more on a single coin than the $6,800 that this coin went for.

    I looked up the quarter - 14 in 70 and 4,000+ in 69. That's a lot of underpops.

    Expensive plastic.

That sums it up. The one I have in my 99 proof set looks at least as nice as that one... image
