Well, not recently, but I did go deep ($1800+) a couple of years ago for a 1/1 card that I just HAD to have. To this day I still think I was shilled, but I had to have it.

As it turns out, there's 5 10's of the same card now.

Goose I would have to say that going deep on a 33 LaJoie isn't quite at the same level of deepness as an 82 Chet Lemon.

Guys,
deep is deep. There is no relationship with regards to what you went deep on...just that you spent aggressively to the point of a head scratch. The 33 Nap is a tough card for sure, however.

Since the 1982 Topps Cards were the first real "Cards" (I am excluding Donruss and Fleer because they aren't as valuable) that I collected as a kid, I honor your purchase! PSA 10's are hard for this set in my opinion because of the Chipping, edges that dulled easily in shoe boxes, The continually smeared facsimile autograph, and the Grren Backside. In addition some cards have "Ripples" and Bubbles on them probably from how the glue got jacked up when trying to seal the front to the card stock.
Then if all these things weren't undermining your card, you had to look at the centering!

Do you know of anybody who has that Pasqual Perez Error card or George Foster (signature on Allstar card) Uncorrected error card that is slabbed by PSA and on sale trhough ebay?

Man, maybe I should start buying soem of these cards in high condition too.

That would REALLY take me on a trip down memory lane.

Of course taht Ripken will cost some ducats.

Bumbry...did you say Bumbry??? I LOVE Bumbry! But, then, I collect lead-off men. I was listing some Orioles pics last night and listed Bumbry just because I think he's so cool. I enjoyed watching him lunge for the bag on a close play and the way he fell off to the side wildly on his throws to the plate. He was a colorful and fearless player...and underrated lead-off hitter.

This one cost me $113. Alot of $$ for me.

I have 21 other parallels/variations of it so I HAD to get it. Bought other 05 BDP patch cards of him for $50 avg.
Then this collector I kinda know outbids me and says sorry but I want just one of the patch cards. He knows my goal of getting them ALL so I had to bid again and pay a bit more than I should. I wanted to email him so bad and ask him to retract his bid. I would of saved $50. Oh well. Now hopefullly it gets here from Taiwan.

I'd be curious to see how many more 82TT CLemons get sent in now thanks to your bid. What's important though, is that you enjoy the card and will appreciate it as part of your collection.

I recently sent in my '82TT Ripken and got a 9. Guess I should send the rest in and put them up for auction. There must be quite a market for 10s in that set!

To answer your question, I went nuts back in June of 2005 buying a raw '83 Fritsch Puckett for money I don't usually spend. It came back a 9, so it turned out to be a great buy.

I pulled the trigger on a $9.99 card the other day. Childhood hero that I decided to collect for fun and memories. I don't think that was near
as deep as Goose. But then my card will not buy 2 or 3 houses in 10 years like Gooses card will. I said it in your thread Goose and I'll say it again. WOW!!
