Silver Dollars Acquired - Looking to Sell

Hi all,
I recently acquired a collection of 18 coins and am looking to sell them at some point in the near future. I'm listing them here to both ask advice (whether or not to go
for eBay listings or straight for a dealer) or to possibly secure some
individual deals before putting them up for auction.

The following is the list of coins and corresponding information that
came in the set:

- 1875-S Trade Dollar MS62
- 1878-P 8TF Morgan MS63
- 1878-P 7TF Rev of 1879 Morgan MS64
- 1880/79-CC Rev. '78 Morgan MS63
- 1880/79-CC Rev. '78 VAM-4 TOP-100 Morgan MS61
- 1882-O/S Morgan MS62
- 1884-S Morgan AU53
- 1885-CC Morgan MS66
- 1891-S Morgan MS64
- 1895-O Morgan AU50
- 1899-S Morgan MS63
- 1900-P Morgan MS65
- 1900-O Morgan MS64
- 1900-O/CC Morgan MS65
- 1901-O Morgan MS66
- 1902-P PL Morgan MS64
- 1921-P Morgan MS66
- 1923-P Peace Dollar MS64

While I have researched what some of these are selling for on eBay and
prices listed on PCGS, I have not yet determined what I intend on
selling the coins individually for. Any advice / direction / potential
offers would be appreciated.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but it will be virtually impossible to sell any of the Numistrust-holdered coins at anything close to their stated grades, due to that firm's poor market reputation for grading accuracy. The SEGS coin will do only slightly better, and the "certified genuine" coin will be about the same as the Numistrust coins. Only the PCGS and NGC coins will sell for true retail prices that are typically seen on eBay.
    When in doubt, don't.
  • Would you recommend sending these to PCGS to be graded, or to attempt to sell them as-is?

Unfortunately, while your scans are pretty darn good, coins are 3-dimensional things that need to be seen in person by someone who knows how to grade, and if you're thinking of sending them to PCGS or NGC that person needs to have a strong feel for how that company grades. The reason is, some of the coins that appear to look good in scans may or may not look good in person. (Even Numistrust can't get them ALL wrong.) The best coins, if they are legitimately original and Mint State, should probably be broken out of their holders and sent in raw, while others should be left alone if they appear to be grossly overgraded or cleaned.

I recently went through this same sort of thing with a friend of mine, and we never got any of the Numistrust coins to grade less than two points lower at PCGS. The coins we thought were cleaned (and sent in for crossover grading in the holders) were, in fact, rejected by PCGS.
    When in doubt, don't.

Still, from your photos the one's that are not graded by NGC or PCGS look pretty good. I'd find a dealer who submits to NGC or PCGS and send them in...get an attribution on the 1900-O/CC.

If you are looking to sell some I would be interested in the 99-s, ms61 cc rev of 78, and the 91-s. You may want to turn on your private message feature for others to send you messages.

If you are looking to sell probably best to email me at camaro68@ix.netcom.com

Re: Slabbed coins - There are some coins that LIVE within clear plastic and wear their labels with pride... while there are others that HIDE behind scratched plastic and are simply dragged along by a label. Then there are those coins that simply hang out, naked and free image
