Progress on Scher's new collection

Thought I would update on my progress after 2 years of collecting a new series or 2 after selling virtually all my coins in early 05'..I started all over collecting all denominations of seated proofs 1858 and up..Still needed to complete half dimes and dollars 3 coins each the qtrs still need 4 coins and the dimes and halves quite a few holes..i have managed to corral many pop tops and 20 coins are 1/0..Most prized thus far are 1873 and 1874 arrow dimes in 66C and 67..these are really cool and also recently a real nice 1883 qtr in 68C..These seated sets are quite a challenge for me and though hopefully they will be complete date wise in a year or 2 I know it will take me much longer to get em all the way I want them..I have learned a lot about these coins and have recently started adding some real special examples of earlier dates that have mintages of as few as 5 coins. am also working on a couple of other sets and still buy something pretty from my old areas of interest when I just cant resist. Do you collect proof seated coinage? Post something cool if ya can..my posting skills are weak but I really enjoy building these sets..

Wow, that definitely sounds like my dream set. I'm currently in the progress (slowly, as my funds are limited) of building a 37 piece seated half dime DATE set, after that I might work on the complete date/MM set. I've choosen not to include proofs, but only circulation strikes right now. I might start a proof set of any denomination one day, but not yet. My ultimate goal will be all the seated coins, both circulation strikes and proofs and many if not all patterns, but I doubt that I will ever be able to complete that in the grades I like

I believe Seated halves are very underrated. There are some scarce coins out there that are incredibly cheap!

I assume you have kept this fairly confidential while you were searching for the coins. Did you utilize one or two dealers or find the coins yourself, etc. Just curious. I love the seated coinage also. Sounds like something special.
