Home Trading Cards & Memorabilia Forum

OT: Internet Home Biz ...but ON Topic to support my card addiction!

I was wondering if anyone has ever tried any of the home internet businesses like data entry. Something you can do on your own time at your own pace to make some extra cash.

I only work 3 days a week and have 4 days to myself. Even at my job I have a lot of "down time" where I could do something. Yes, my FT job is awesome image

Rather than spend my money from my regular job I was thinking of doing something from home for my addiction money. I would like to just do something from my computer and not have to go out...where I can chill in front of my TV and go at my own pace. Or do to keep myself busy during my down time at my regular job and make a few bucks on the side.

Just something I am considering to help build my collection without going broke!

The internet is FULL of "data entry" scams. It is
just an extension of the "stuff envelopes at home"
scam that used to populate the "business opportunity"
    classifieds.

You can make money to buy cards, by selling cards (or
other stuff) on EBAY...... from home.

Yes, I realize there are tons of scams out there. I just used the "data entry" thing as some sort of an example that someone could do from home.

I wouldnt ever try one of those so called "businesses" but if anyone has done anything for local businesses for some ideas on routes to take.

I know some do accounts payable/receivables, medical billing or transcription, etc.

Believe me, Im not that naive LOL

Ebay is extremely time consuming plus its running your own business instead of just doing some "service" work. Ebay is lots of money plus lots of time and difficult to equate profits enough to justify.

How about the interesting and exciting world of telemarketing?

It allows one to meet a mess of really nice people and is extremely rewarding and educational.

    Thanks for that laugh Mike!

  • One of the things that I've done in the past is with ebay. I sale stuff on ebay for other people that I might know. I charge a percentage and it gives me some extra cash. I don't pay for the fee's or anything, so I just get my percentage. The percentage I take also is what is made prior to the fee's.

Can I ask what percentage you charge for selling for others on ebay? I have sold stuff for a family member and the amount he gave me was less than I was expecting, especially considering that it was stuff he got for free that I researched and turned into much more cash than he thought.

PS- I rent my apartment out for adult film shoots. Pays some good cash and Febreeze gets most of the smell out within a day or two.
  • For friends and family members that I like, I charge 5%. All others are between 10 and 15%. And if it's someone I really just don't know or just don't like that much, 20%. The advantage I have here in town is that there a several Ebay stores that you can go to who will sell your stuff, but they want between 30 and 45%. So, when people find that out, they find I'm much more reasonable.

I don't care if you have a 55 gallon drum of Febreze....you need to replace the carpet after the donkey has a few accidents (either #1 or #2). Just something to factor into your profit equation....a real deposit killer. Plus cream corn is tuff to clean-up...even with a carpet cleaner.

    Good luck.
