Been here three hours already - office is dead, and they've got me in charge. Why did I have to use up all those vacation days earlier in the year???

    yep, I'm at work covering everyones shift, I've been here since Monday 7am Pacific and won't get to go home until Friday 4pm.

    We had celebrated Christmas on Saturday.

    I work for a satellite Broadcasting company, we air programs 24 hours a day.

    Everyone took the day off, and I volunteered to take on the shift, I do it every year seems like.

    Oh how I like that triple time. image

    Working today and worked yesterday!!!! No rest for the TV people here!

    My daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 2 (2003). My son was diagnosed with Type 1 when he was 17 on December 31, 2009. We were stunned that another child of ours had been diagnosed. Please, if you don't have a favorite charity, consider giving to the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation)

    I'm at work but probably not for long.
    Delivered an app on time/on budget last week and now the Boss says he has $$$ for maintenance only.

    Oh well. It's the life of an IT contractor. I've spent the morning submitting to Dice.

    I'm in the same boat as Bunker. I can't go back to work until 1/2/07. I do have the oncall phone though and have to log in to work from home to monitor our batch jobs tonight and tomorrow night. On Thursday I have to drive to downtown Portland to drop this d@mn phone off.

    While I'm downtown, I'm going to stop by a velvet-painting museum to let them see my six blacklight paintings. I bought them 30 years ago when I was stationed in Thailand and they've hardly seen the light of day since then. They are kind of depressing themes (that's where my head was at in the early '70s) except for the huge rendition of Savoy Brown's "Hellbound Train" album cover. It's pretty cool and I wouldn't mind having it framed someday. Here's a picture I took of it recently:

    [edited to add:] Oh yeah, the owner of the museum is in touch with one of the Savoy Brown band members! He's excited to see this. I 'm hoping they offer some $$ for the other paintings because I doubt I can ever justify displaying them with the chance of my kids, and now grandchild, seeing them. I'd have some explaining to do!

    Not working today - but will work tomorrow.

    I hope everyone had a good holiday!

    Mine was pretty good - we went to Austin yesterday for a few hours - roads were relatively empty.

    My best present - not arrived yet - a case of Topps Heritage!

    I had to work Christmas Eve and today along with the rest of the week. One person called out so I had to pick up the slack. Now my butt is dragging.

    Working from home -- no official signatories in the office to sign the official legal letters I would have liked to get out today.
    I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.
