1977 topps sealed set

Did Topps make Complete Sets in 1977?Seller says he doesnt know for sure if its a complete set.Heres the item number on ebay 260064236361.Anybody have any info please post. thnks

Not sure if Topps made factory sealed sets back then, but if they did, the one in that auction is definitely NOT one of them!

Why would somebody sell a set, and not show you even one card from it? Who would bid on something like this?

Hmmmm. I'd be curious why the address for this seller is New Jersey but everything in the store is listed in Canadian funds. The meta-tag even shows "Canadian Seller" when you link to the store. The seller does have a 530 (99.8) FD rating, so it's hard telling how up-and-up this auction may be.

There are at least two other sets listed, from 1982 and 1983, which don't even have a picture of the "white box" they come in! Also listed is a "1983 Topps Baseball Set". When you read the description though, you find out it's missing card #104, Bob Walk.

I'd shy away from these auctions, perhaps unless I could roll the dice and get this "1977 set" for $20 or so!

Set appears to be a hand coalated <sp> set. I think stores like JC Penney and Sears had Xmas sets but this one shown does not look like any I have ever seen.

The seller has not marketed this set properly (no kidding)
You just do not know what the condition is. Be worth the gamble for 40.00 bucks or so IMO.

There's no 1977 Factory Set. This is a hand-collated set. A box like that wasn't even around in 1977.

edit: WinPitcher (Steve D.) may be right? If u can pick-up this "so-called" 1977 set, for a low price; a gamble without risking lots of $$$. Risk vs. Reward? (But in my opinion, this seller has a retail shop, and I'd wager, these 1977 cards have been "picked-thru" and have been handled a lot? But I have no way of knowing that for sure. It could be just the opposite and there could be lots of quality unsearched cards in that box? Do you feel like a gamble? The seller's feedback seems ok.)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but other than the rare 1974 Topps Factory set and the Update sets starting in 1981....I don't believe Topps manufactured a regular edition factory set until the "brown box" in 1985.

My point was, if you click nightcrawler's link, it takes you to ebay.ca - that is why the item is presented in Canadian dollars. There are Ebay sites for several countries, that convert the prices to the currency of the country it is intended for. Simple as that.

If he is truthful (I doubt it), this could be a set of 1990 Topps for all we know.
