submitted 37 '84D ---- nine 10's, four 8's, twenty-three 9's

only surprise in the entire lot was the Jagr 8 ... must have missed a corner touch or something.

    Congratulations!

It's obvious you're not "blindflying" with your selection.

That is awesome Tom. Anytime you pull of more tens than eights you have done extremely well.

  • What an eye! Congrats! That's an impressive lot of cards -- especially with those pieces of artwork called 1984 Donruss...
  • Thanks, Mike.

Several of those 10's only have a pop of 2 (now 3).

The Sutter DK Steele is now a pop 4 (with no 10's).

The Bud Black PSA 10 came from 80Junkie's 80's bust from a month back.

    good stuff!

You just answered my next question...

    any low pops?

So - gonna put them up on ebay?

What would a lo pop 10 bring?
    what a great Christmas present!

That's a good question. I recently started a registry set for 84D (both Master & Basic) --- my goal was a PSA 9 set ... I thought I'd just sell the 10's and build it straight 9.

Though ... a perfectly centered 84D card is truly beautiful (especially the non-factory, wide bordered version).

I am toying with the idea of just keeping the 10's and building a 9/10 set. It'd definitely raise my standing in the registry.

    -Tom

PS Not sure what they would sell for as I just got into the set. Arny and others would definitely know.

    Thanks,

    1985 Topps Football (starting in psa 8) - #9 - started 05/21/06
  • Ferg .... I track that ... here is the origin:

    CU 80's pack bust:
    Bud Black - 10

1/4 Wax Box Bust (organized by Arny on 84D forum few months ago):
    Ron Darling - 9
    Jack Clark - 9
    Ray Burris - 10
    Enos Cabell - 9
    Butch Wynegar - 9
    Burt Hooten - 9
    Danny Jackson - 10

The remainder came from 2 hand collated and 1 factory (opened) set --- all 3 purchased on ebay.
-- this is a real hit or miss method ... it did yield me (so far) the following 10's:
    Ron Jackson
    Ken Dayley
    Gary Gaetti
    Ray Burris
    Cecil Cooper
    Milt May
    Dann Bilardello

.. .and the Sutter DK Steele, which was a pop 3 nine with no tens.

I have several more cards to submit from those three sets ... but this sub had some of the best from it.

    -t

    EDITED TO ADD:
I also got a Mattingly, Ozzie Smith, and Joe Carter --- all came back PSA 9 from those 3 purchased sets.

My daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 2 (2003). My son was diagnosed with Type 1 when he was 17 on December 31, 2009. We were stunned that another child of ours had been diagnosed. Please, if you don't have a favorite charity, consider giving to the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation)
