    Now there is a link!

The design is ok, though I do like them having the facsimile (sp?) autograph on the card again.
  • It's a beautiful design.
  • A decent looking design----- BUT---- I hate those black borders-----very tough to find 9's & 10's............

Is it just me or does Topps recent designs in the last 10 years or so seem all uninspired and blend together? I can't even get excited over this design. I think the last Topps design I really liked was the 1987 set. Of course, that was in my youth, and collecting prime, so I may be jaded by that too! image

Anybody noticed how the 2004 and 2005 designs are so similar? I think they did a good job of changing it up for 2007.

  • exactly! its about time Topps changed its design..white borders are so out.....next is a change in the Bowman line, boy is that design getting old.....
  • It looks good to me... an updated take on... 1971? Obviously a "black" parallel won't be happening for this set image

    Interesting design.

The black border sends ya back to the 80s but the dots kind of give it that new age look of the 21st century computer era.

I don't do the set anymore but would pick up a few packs to see them myself.

Wow, that is quite a fascinating design! Let's see, they did their 2004 set similar to the 1986 Topps set, the 2007 set was done with 1971 style black borders; perhaps a 1987 style wood grain borders set will soon follow for 2008?

  • Sweet looking design, but it is a new issue and there will be WAY TOO MANY produced.

    I'll stick to vintage.

  • First week in February? Anyone else remember when next year's Topps got released in time for Christmas? I could've sworn that 1990 Topps was released sometime in December 1989.
  • Is it possible you're thinking of the 89 Christmas factory set instead of 1990 cards? Dec seems a little early. Not sure though.

While we're on designs - here's the next release - Bowman Heritage - it's honoring the 49 Bowman design.

Not sure about this one - whether I like it or not.

    I haven't done a Bowman Heritage set since 2003 I believe.

We are either going to have to learn every one's face, or flip the card over to find out who it is. Needless to say, the fronts are pretty boring.

I think I might like the card better if it were in the original size of the 49B cards.

    Not sure.

I agree. This is one example where the "Vintage" look just doesn't work for a modern issue.

I agree with Mike on this one.If cards were released in thier original size they would be very Nostalgic to us old guys on the board.

I think this was one of the things that the MLBPA changed when they instituted their new "rookie card" rules and licensing restrictions - that the companies couldn't sell "2007" cards before 2007 had actually started, etc. I could be wrong on that, but I seem to recall reading something like that at the time it happened.

Personally, I think that's great. Gives the companies a chance to get at least some of the free agents on the right teams, etc.

I remember spending parts of Christmas day opening a box of cards I had received from Santa. I guess that's over with.
